From the reception of an article to publication
There are two initial possibilities:
A) An author requests information about submitting an article before submitting the article.
The Editor-in-Chief sends the author the following documents:
The Editorial Policy of the Journal
as a guide for the final preparation of the article and answers any other questions.
B) An already finished article is received by the Editor-in-Chief
1) The Editor-in-Chief receives the article and looks it over to determine its general suitability for the MEXTESOL Journal and that it is complete.
He writes the author acknowledging receipt of the article and informs the author of the following steps.
**The author must state in the cover letter whether s/he wishes the article to be refereed or not.
2) The Editor sends the article to the appropriate Associate Editor (for Refereed or Non-refereed Articles) who, in turn will also read it and make a tentative decision regarding its suitability and its status as a refereed or non-refereed article.

3) The article is then sent on to two reviewers for refereed articles and one for non-refereed articles. These reviewers read the article without knowing who the author is (blind review). The two reviewers are from two different institutions and are believed not to know the author
4) The Associate Editor establishes direct contact with the author and informs him/her of advances.
5) In refereed articles the reviewers are called Reader A and Reader B. Reader A first reads the article for content and cohesion. It is possible that various rewrites will be necessary before the article is sent to Reader B, who besides reading for content and cohesion, concentrates on language and style. Once the article has been approved by both Readers it is sent to the Style Editor for further review. The process can take from various months to over a year depending on the amount of rewriting necessary and on the speed with which the article is rewritten.
6) In both refereed and non-refereed articles the author is almost always asked to make revisions according to the comments received. The Associate Editor relays information and the manuscript back and forth between the author and the reviewers as often as necessary until the article has the complete approval of all involved.
8) The Associate Editor now turns the article over to the Style Editor and then the Editor-in-Chief who makes a final reading for editing and proofreading purposes.
9) If additional changes are necessary, there may be further correspondence between the Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editors and the author, or between the Editor-in-Chief and the author directly.
10) The author is informed of the final acceptance of the article and the approximate publication date.
11) During the entire process the article’s status as either Refereed or Non-refereed is confirmed or modified and the author is informed of any changes.
12) After the article is published, the author can visit the website and download a pdf version of the article.
